March/April AP Calendar

It’s already time for the March/April AP US History calendar! March is that great big dry month in the middle of two vacations, but it is also the time of a lot of interesting learning in 20th century American history. I know you’ll enjoy it, even with all of the work. There is one mistake on the calendar… I forgot to take out March 23rd as a school day. That is a professional development day, and so YOU won’t be there, but I will. Here’s the link to the calendar.

January/February AP Calendar

Although most of January is gone, I wanted to update the webpage on the calendar for January and February. Remember to check your nightly reading assignments, as well as dates for tests and quizzes. You can also see the topics we will cover each day in class. Finally, do not forget that Friday, Feb. 5th is Test Day! Chapters 20 and 21 will be covered. Let me know if you have any questions. US History 2 Unit Plans

Over the years, I have been uploading my lessons and activities as PDF files to my website. One of those sets of lessons is based on a 18 week chronological breakdown of topics in US History 2. Basically, I spend 1 week per decade (with exceptions for the 1960′s and the 1940′s). On the unit plan, I explain the topics covered each day, where the information can be found in the text, what the essential questions are for each day and more. I then go on to list common vocabulary terms for each day and then provide students with common assignments for each week (website reviews, RAFT assignments and essay questions).

Here’s a PDF of the APUSH calendar for September and October. On this, and future, calendars I will post the dates of tests, quizzes, projects, online work, document-based questions, and more. AP Reading List & Dates

Here’s the PDF file for this year’s textbook reading list. Basically, I’ve divided the entire textbook into sections that fit evenly into weeks by chapters. Within each week, I’ve divided the sections by five day segments. We’ll cover the entire textbook in the year before April vacation. After that, we’ll review for the AP exam. Keep up with each night’s reading assignment and remember to be prepared to discuss the pages you’ve read on the day listed in the calendar. Thanks.
